Blessing Way Pastures is the vision of Angel for a regenerative farm and homestead.  

Laurie and Angel Phillips Permaloff moved from the big city to the country in August of 2013 after many years of yearning for a simpler life, lived closer to the land.  With a love of the great outdoors, Angel is thriving.  Laurie still works full-time, but is able to do that from home now, cutting out the long commute back into the cities and back.
We have worked toward this goal of growing more of what we consume, treading gently on the earth and finding ways to not only keep from detracting from the planet, but to actually help it regenerate.  What a wonderful world it would be if we all worked to make it a little better, a little healthier, more diverse and robust during our trips around the sun?

In December of 2018 Angel's folks, Carol and Bruce, join us here on the farm!   We began a new phase of life with a deeper commitment to our vision and additional hearts and hands to contribute.  In January of 2025, we lost Bruce to tonsillar cancer, after a 7-year run of working to beat it.  He is sorely missed.

In late March of 2026 we welcomed Celia to the farm!  Celia is our first live-in, full-time farm intern.  The initial plan is that she'll be with us for at least 1 year, with the hope that we might persuade her to stay on longer, as it's a fantastic fit for all of us.  With a background including goat dairying, baking, sales/marketing and a love of Real Food, we're seeing more every day about how she brings a both a sweet and spicy flavor to the farm family!

I invited a WishList customer to fill a standing order slot this week, after 2 years of being an occasional customer.  Below was her response and my reply back.  I am sharing this here for anyone invested in reading more about the back-story of Blessing Way FArm as we have built it over the past 8 years.  


Hi Angel, what beautiful summer...Everything is so pricey in these end times. If you can reduce your price I would gladly be on some type of schedule for 11 gallons of milk. 
Also, do you sell compost?

While I appreciate that a lower price would make our Real Milk more attractive to consumers, our price is set to cover our production expenses and a modest $20.00/hr for myself and my helpers for the 100-120 hours per week it takes to run our dairy.  We're not making $$ doing this.  It's a community service to provide 100% grass-fed/Zero grain A2/A2 milk for our family and those who need the most nutrient-dense and least inflammatory milk available.  

I drew no income at all, beyond the milk my own household consumed, the first 7 years when our herd was smaller.  I started paying myself an hourly rate this January.   We need 7 cows in milk to break even.  We had 6 last year.  This year we will be milking 9 cows by fall, so part of the year will finally cover the labor cost for myself and the 55 hours I hire out each week to keep my personal hours reasonable.

This lifestyle isn't for everyone, but I love what I'm doing with the dairy and am happy to provide for the ample demand for as long as I'm able.  I'm semi-retired from my clinical practice providing Craniosacral Therapy to infants and children, so I only work 10 hours a week after 36 years of full-time clinical practice.  Thankfully, that income has afforded me the luxury of being a farmer in my later years, allowing me to serve my community by nourishing coming generations while healing the soil with our Regenerative Practices.

You might be interested to see the lab results that verify our milk is indeed much more nutrient-dense than grass-fed commercial dairy and especially standard commercial milk.  All our test results are available to the public on my website, as radical transparency is part of my calling here.    Lab Work and Test Results

Since you've been a WishList customer since May of 2023, I was pleased to get far enough down the WishList to offer you a standing order slot and would be happy to provide for your household, if it suits your needs.  I completely understand that multiple factors must be considered, with cost being a strong one.  If customers find our offering compelling it's because it feeds a deeper need and the cost of the Real Milk is absorbed by the savings in their health issues.  I have 40 pages of WishList customers beyond your entry awaiting a standing order slot, specifically for what we provide, which is both a blessing and a burden.  I can only provide from the limited resource that I have available, to maintain our higest quality and ethics around land preservation and holding capacity for the acres and cows that we manage.

I appreciate your participation in our farm's growth over the past few years and hope we can serve you further if there is a need for what we provide.

To answer your query about compost: no, we don't sell our composted manure/bedding.  It is turned for 2 years and then reapplied to improve our pastures for the grazing livestock.
